Editor’s Review:
Let me tell you right away I liked the movie. It starts of slowly enough and is quite slow paced throughout infact. The audience is kept in its seat by the intrigue of how the drama would pan out. The drama is one of emotions. Is love all important? Is family worth all the sacrifices we make for it? These I think are the questions tackled here. The dilemma presented could well have been that of a man and a woman or even of two women, the drama would have been the same. A movie very in touch with the conundrums of reality. I liked it when the two were trying to make space for themselves within the bounds of marriage and society. Our society does have a very limited view of love. The telephone conversation between Jack’s (Jake Gyllenhall) wife and Ennis(Heath Ledger) where she gives him the spiel about the cause of Jack’s death with Ennis hearing exactly what could have actually happened is a nice touch. It shows exactly how society dealt with the kind of love it dint understand a couple of decades ago.
